Prospect Construction is actively seeking a Senior Project Manager with an entrepreneurial mindset to spearhead operations in either North Dakota or South Dakota with the goal of establishing a satellite office. This role is ideal for an experienced construction leader ready to take ownership of regional expansion efforts while managing complex heavy civil infrastructure projects.

As a representative of Prospect Construction in a new geographical region, you will not only manage the successful execution of construction projects but also help cultivate local relationships, identify new project opportunities, and recruit local talent as we grow our presence.

Prospect Construction is a Heavy Civil Contractor that specializes in water and wastewater treatment plants, hydraulic structures/facilities, shoring systems, large concrete tanks, pump stations/process facilities, dewatering, major excavations, structural steel, process equipment, and mechanical systems. Prospect began as a General Contractor in 1998, with our first office location in Puyallup Washington. Over the last few decades, Prospect has coupled its expertise in complex projects with its vast level of self-performance to grow into one of the premier treatment plant contractors in the Northwest. This continued growth has allowed Prospect to bring our expertise into new geographical regions, with the establishment of our office in Missoula, Montana in the Fall of 2020 and the opening of our Sheridan, Wyoming Office in the Summer of 2023.

Responsibilities can include but are not limited to:

Lead the launch and operational setup of a new satellite office in North or South Dakota with the goal of securing work in the Dakotas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota region.

Lead the successful execution of projects and ensure projects are built safely, efficiently, and of high quality.

Recruit, onboard, and mentor a new regional team; work closely with HR and leadership to ensure alignment with Prospect’s culture and values.

Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to pursue and win work in the new region.

Ensure operational standards, safety practices, and construction excellence are implemented at the new location.

Provides direct supervision and maintains overall responsibility for the management of construction and quality control activities.

Collaborate and assist engineers, architects, and owners to determine the specifications of the project.

Review and negotiate owner, subcontractor, and supplier contracts.

Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and work plans aligned with company objectives.

Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines are met.

Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks and opportunities.

Develop, maintain, and communicate overall project CPM schedule to management; project superintendent, owner/engineer, and subcontractors.

Analysis of impacts to the project schedule and negotiation of schedule extensions with the owner and their representatives.

Attend and lead weekly progress meetings with the owner.

Prepare, finalize, and manage the monthly pay request with the owner or their representative in a timely manner to ensure receipt of payment in a timely manner.

Management of subcontractor costs, submittals, RFIs, schedule, pay requests, change orders and communications.

Manage change orders, claims, and documentation for added scope or unforeseen conditions.

Maintain strong client relationships and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.

Coordinate with estimators and project team to evaluate cost and schedule impacts.

Represent and support subcontractor and supplier interests to the Owner or their representative.

Perform monthly labor and material budget analysis.

Coordinate and manage project detailing requirements, including concrete lift drawing, metal fabrication detail drawings, mechanical layout drawings. Ensure detailing is accomplished to facilitate timely purchase and delivery of materials to the jobsite.

Supervise and mentor project managers and senior project engineers.

Oversee the execution and completion of multiple projects and project teams.

qualifications:
-
10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years managing water/wastewater infrastructure projects (treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, reservoirs, etc.)

Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, Construction Management or a related degree or comparable work experience.

Strong background in managing self-performed scopes such as:

Excavation and trenching
-
Concrete structures and formwork
-
Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
-
Mechanical process piping
-
Ability to understand project scheduling, cost control and to read and understand project owner specifications and engineering drawings.

Strong written and verbal communication; able to effectively liaise with owners, designers, inspectors, and regulators.

Ability to represent the company in public meetings, progress meetings, and owner reviews
